About The Hold

These thin icicles can be a bit of a risk to those not careful enough. More often than not, hitting one of these towards the bottom will cause part of the icicle to shatter, not allowing you to dig into it. Your best course of action when encountering a thin icicle is aiming for the top of it to minimize the chance of a break. Some icicles will break entirely when hit at the top. Make sure you're not too hasty and check if an icicle is safe before letting go of your previous hold. You can only hold on to these holds with your Alpine Ice Axes.
