Evergreen's End is a very difficult peak from the fundamentals book. It introduces a new hold which is a branch.

About Peak

Evergreen's End is a small prominence at what seems to be the crest of a hill. As one would expect from the name, it is surrounded by an evergreen forest and covered in the roots and leaves of the trees that live amongst it.

The climb is covered in overhangs where branches dangle, and where tumbleweed both dead and living stand. In spite of this, and in spite of the ambient sounds of this peak, there are no birds present, making this a rather peaceful climb, if a bit daunting.

Unlike the previous peak - Giant's Shelf - this climb is comparatively linear and direct with a gently winding path to the summit.

Strategy

Despite the lofty technical rating and difficulty, the climb is far from intense and strenuous, though it will be challenging upon first ascent.

The climb begins by grabbing a branch poking out of the cliff face then swinging over to a hold a bit further up on the rock face. The climb is straightforward from this point until the next section, where the player will climb four consecutive branches before being presented with a choice of path: climb or swing.

Despite the audible creaking and groaning from the branches, they will not break, so feel free to swing to your heart's content. Either swing to the vertical roots hanging from the next overhang, or climb across the wall on the handholds to them. The final root will be covered in shrubs, so be careful when leaping to it. At this point, one can climb left or right, the former leading to a collectible.

Continuing upwards, the player will reach two branches and a seemingly large gap. Swing across to the branch on the far side at this point, but do not be afraid to rope here if you feel the need to. After this, the climb is nearly vertical, occasionally broken up by the stray tumbleweed or two. The final stretch contains one last branch with which you can either grab the final hold and pull yourself up, or swing all the way up to the summit.

The summit offers a nice view of the evergreen forest and more context on the location of this peak. One can see other distant peaks circling Evergreen's End in the distance, though none seem to be any we know of yet.

Tips

YFYD Tips

I would suggest if you want the most control on branches hold where the branch meets the wall and also you can crampon if you do this.
