Paltry Peak
“Mountains are not fair or unfair, they are just dangerous.” - REINHOLD MESSNER |
Paltry Peak is an easy peak from the fundamentals book. and the second peak overall in Peaks of Yore. This peak is meant to demonstrate a key aspect of climbing: pull-ups. This peak accomplishes this by making the holds too far to reach without employing the pull-up technique.
About Peak
Paltry peak is a small stack or spire that sprouts out of another, unknown peak that the player seems to have already ascended prior to starting this climb. There are no collectibles on this peak.
The holds are nearly vertical, akin to climbing a ladder. Once at the top, the peak is rather small and contains little room beyond that for the stamp box; however, the view is quite nice.
Though the height may seem tall, falling from the topmost grip will not knock the player out. Jumping from the top will, however.
Strategy
As the second peak, this is meant to be easy, but the technique at play may be hard to perform. By grasping a hold, you can pull-up to move your character upward. The strength of the pull depends on whether you're holding with one or both hands, with the latter providing a larger pull force. Once you get to the top hold of the peak, grab it with both hands. Simply pull-up once more and you'll pull yourself to the top to collect your stamp.
Tips
YFYD Tips
Go from hold to hold and make sure you don't let both hands go off holds, unless you feel confident that you wont die.
